Rice Crispies

Here are Junko and my girls. I made a batch of rice crispy treats the other day. I got some real rice crispies. I've made them before with a puffed rice cereal substitute from Japan. The rice is really fat and doesn't pop in milk, but nothing beats the real thing. We also gave some to some neighbor friends of ours. They've given us stuff like vegtables or meat. Japan is a real gift-giving culture and it's common to exchange small gifts, especially food with neighbors. It's kind of nice and creates stronger bonds in the community. That's something that doesn't happen so much in the States where half the time, we don't even know or talk to our neighbors.
